Conducting effective web searches on e.g. on Google can actually be a very important way for businesses to gather all kinds of valuable information, but how can you be sure you’re getting the best out of your searches? For this week’s tip here’s how the search pros do it.
Use +, – and “ “ (quotes) to narrow down your searches. For example:
- Rather than just searching for shorts, use shorts +summer in your Google search.
- Narrow the search again by using the minus to eliminate something you don’t want to include in the search e.g. shorts +summer -red
- Narrow the search further by including a very specific phrase in inverted commas / quotes e.g. shorts +summer -red “polyester and cotton”.
